Responsibility in Stair Construction

We are all aware of the importance of responsibility. As a medium-sized craft company, we too actively engage with this topic. For us, responsibility is not a temporary trend, but an ongoing process that continuously presents us with new challenges – challenges that we are happy to take on.

Responsible action is also essential in our industry in order to contribute to a liveable future for generations to come. However, responsibility requires more than implementing individual measures. Rather, it involves a wide range of actions aimed at managing the use of resources as consciously as possible and continuously developing our processes.

Below, we would like to present some of the measures we have already implemented.

At METALLART, we primarily rely on strong local suppliers with whom we have maintained long-standing strategic partnerships. In both steel and glass, we have been working with renowned partner companies in Germany for many years. This enables us to maintain short distances and reliable cooperation throughout our supply chain.

Our individual sculptural staircases and standard staircases in the distinctive METALLART design are manufactured in Germany, helping to secure jobs in the region. From our wide range of services to comprehensive technical planning and the preparation of drawings, everything is carried out locally. Proud to carry the “Made in Germany” label, we offer our customers the complete value chain from a single source.

When using our machinery and equipment, we consider not only technical and economic requirements, but also the respective resource requirements of the manufacturing process. We assess opportunities to use materials in a targeted and economical manner.

The production of steel may be energy-intensive, but its robustness and durability are undeniable. Steel is characterised by its exceptional strength and stability, allowing staircases made from this material to remain in use for many years, both indoors and outdoors. The possibility of recycling steel and returning it to the material cycle makes it a versatile material that is relevant both today and for future generations.

At METALLART, the continuous development of our products is a key focus, as demonstrated by our example of the steel soffit cladding. By developing a unique interface between 3D planning and finite element analysis (FEA) software, we integrate the steel soffit cladding into our structural calculations through design modifications within the hollow body of the staircases. This innovative design approach results in significant material savings, contributing to the efficient design of our products.

METALLART steel staircases are coated with a high-quality primer that not only provides corrosion protection but also serves as an ideal base for the final coat applied on site. Our team of experts uses a water-based primer that meets the highest occupational safety standards. This ensures that every steel staircase is aesthetically appealing, from the first coat to the final brushstroke.

Certifications and documentation play an important role in the construction industry. At METALLART, we regularly manufacture staircases in accordance with various sustainability standards, such as DGNB or LEED. In doing so, we fully align our work with the requirements of our clients and the specific requirements of each construction project.
